WordPress

The Hey Glancy plugin connects a WordPress site to a bucket without touching your theme. It adds the script tag for page views, heatmaps and replays, and sends the events that matter from the server, where ad blockers can't stop them: sign-ups, WooCommerce orders and form submissions.

Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 7.4+.

Install

  1. Download the plugin: glancy-wordpress.zip.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and activate it.
  3. Open Settings → Hey Glancy and paste your Hey Glancy URL (https://ingest.heyglancy.com) and the bucket's write key (from your bucket's Setup page in Hey Glancy).
  4. Click Send a test event, then look for WordPress Connected under Events in Hey Glancy.

What it tracks

Each group can be turned on or off in Settings → Hey Glancy.

In the browser

  • Page views on every page.
  • Heatmaps (clicks and scroll depth) and session replays, optional. What people type is always masked, and you can record only a share of visits.
  • Clicks on links to other sites (Outbound Link Clicked).

From the server

Group Events
Accounts Signed Up, Signed In, Signed Out
WooCommerce Product Viewed, Product Added, Product Removed, Cart Viewed, Checkout Started, Order Completed (with revenue and products), Order Refunded
Forms Form Submitted for Contact Form 7, WPForms and Gravity Forms: which form, never what was typed

People

  • Recognise logged-in users ties visits to their WordPress account, so a member's activity lands on one profile. Optionally, include their name and email.
  • Administrators and editors aren't tracked by default, so your own browsing stays out of the numbers.

Custom events

Without code, add data-glancy-event to any link, button or form in the editor (as a custom HTML attribute):

<a href="/brochure.pdf" data-glancy-event="Brochure Downloaded">Download the brochure</a>

From your theme's JavaScript:

glancy("track", "Newsletter Signed Up", { list: "weekly" });

From PHP, for example in your theme's functions.php or another plugin:

glancy_track('Quote Requested', array('service' => 'design'));

When your server reaches Hey Glancy at another address

If your WordPress server talks to Hey Glancy over an internal network, set Server URL in the settings. Browsers keep using the public Hey Glancy URL.
